Founder & Managing Partner
Ian is the Founder and Managing Partner of Ekofolio, and has a passion for projects that accelerate transformations for industries and people. Ian started in Management Consulting, later serving as a co-founder/board member in the Nepal Music Festival, the country's largest volunteer run festival. He has taught at top business schools in Denmark, and is an active coach and speaker at various global entrepreneurship events and accelerators. Ian holds an MSc (Global Politics) from LSE, and has attended Harvard and IESE Business Schools
Co-founder & CTO
Axel brings to Ekofolio over two decades of IT and data systems experience along with advanced studies in forestry and resilience. During years at the head of a growing IT consultancy, he developed a whole-systems perspective now focused at the crossroads of technology and natural systems. Axel has a particular interest in using emerging decentralised technologies to bring about positive economic and environmental change. He has deep personal interest in forest and marine environments, holds a pilot license and is an avid scuba diver.
Co-Founder and Chief Investment Forester
Esben is a pioneer in the nascent market for frontier market timberland investment. As part of the team managing the world's first global frontier timberland fund established in 2007, he was responsible for the origination and acquisition of the African investments and later on in Latin America. Esben was previously head of Natural Capital at APG, and headed Africa's largest private equity fund in Africa dedicated to timberland investments. Esben holds an MSc in Forestry with an interdisciplinary diploma in Tropical Land Use Management.
Security Officer and Developer
Thomas discovered his passion for building great software products years ago, and has not looked back since. As an experienced .NET full stack developer, he is versatile and proficient in many aspects of frontend, backend, security, database and infrastructure. Known to many for a pragmatic, straight-talking, 'no-time-for BS' style - he combines his unique technical prowess with strong experience as a leader and entrepreneur, having served as CTO for numerous startup projects - all aimed to make a meaningful difference to the world.
Winnie has over 20 years of experience in Advertising, Branding and Digital agencies located in London, Singapore, Shanghai and Helsinki. Her diverse range of clients have included AMEX, British Airways, Coca-Cola, GSK, HSBC and Microsoft. In 2012, she started her own design studio with a focus on branding, and working with forward-thinking startups. Her creative philosophy starts with a deep understanding of client products, combined with insights, and turning it into holistic design solutions.
Blockchain Ecosystem Lead
Adam is a blockchain native, embedded in crypto communities from its early days. As a keen analyst of the rapidly evolving blockchain ecosystem, Adam helps the Ekofolio team keep current with the forces shaping the forefront of the technology. This includes strategic analysis and advisory of industry developments, including protocol and community appraisal, crypto-economics research, as well as token issuance best practice. An academic background in environment and technology, and a burning passion for climate justice makes Adam a natural fit with the Ekofolio team.
John Julian Hansen
Julian is a self-taught full stack developer who first started with web development at 13, subsequently progressing to games (Unity 3D), apps, as well as product development on all manner of websites. He has been an active part of the games development scene as well as the Blockchain ecosystem in Copenhagen, and is currently the lead smart contract developer for the pilot projects of the Nordic Blockchain Association (NBA). He is passionate about all things Ethereum – and its core mission to decentralize everything.
Alan is an entrepreneur, connector, and thought leader in risk management. His mission is to protect Earth’s vital ecosystems by democratizing natural capital investment. Alan is a founder and Chief Strategist of GenBlue, a venture studio dedicated to building a global natural capital marketplace. Previously, Alan established Natural Capital Markets at Lykke, and listed the world’s first mangrove backed blockchain token (TREE). Alan has over two decades experience with leading financial institutions, and was a founding member of the RiskMetrics Group, a JPMorgan spin-off.
Hedda Pahlson Moller
Hedda is a private investor, independent director, adjunct professor and advisor on issues related to impact finance, sustainability and diversity management. She is the founder and CEO of TIIME.org – which engages in advocacy, advisory and education to drive capital and resources towards positive social and environmental impact. Hedda is an active board member on funds and organizations working with and towards a triple bottom line and positive societal impact. Her focus is on inclusion, gender-lens investing and climate change financing.
Victor is a seasoned entrepreneur, global citizen, and systems thinker focused on business model innovation and automated decision support systems. He currently heads the rollout of Citi Ventures’ D10X program in APAC, and has over a decade of experience in building and scaling technology startups across the globe. He holds an MS in Decision Sciences from the London School of Economics and a double MS in System Dynamics Modelling from the University of Bergen in Norway and Radboud in the Netherlands.
Reza Zain Jaufeerally
Reza is a Barrister by training (Middle Temple, UK), and has served as an adviser to numerous industrial entities for multi-billion Euro fundraisings. He has advised Belgium's First B-Corporation to sustainably fund major deployments of societal real estate, and Greater Paris Investment Agency and Bain & Company in their benchmark study on Islamic Finance to attract ultra-large amounts of foreign direct investments. Reza holds a triple LLM (International Business, Intellectual Property & ICT law specialisations) from University of Leuven.
Sharon B. Pedersen
Sharon has a Ph.D. in economics and a background in international finance. She has worked extensively with financial institutions in the USA, Germany, and Japan, engaging in forex trading, risk analysis, bank lending, investor relations, and financial modelling. She has experience with the Deutsche Bundesbank, International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce, and at the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency of Japan’s Ministry of Economy and International Trade. Sharon serves as the Dean of Academic Affairs and Professor of Finance at Copenhagen Business College.
